Roger Sharp’s top 5 surfers to watch out for at Boardmasters 2013

Roger Sharp

If anyone can spot a top quality surfer, it’s Roger Sharp. As editor of Carve Magazine, world-class surf photographer and all-round man of the waves, he’s been keeping a sharp eye on the British surf scene for decades.

This year, the country’s best surfers will go head-to-head at Boardmasters 2013, held on Newquay’s Fistral Beach as part of the UK Pro Surf Tour.

We had a quick chat with Sharpy about who he thinks are the surfers to watch out for at this year’s competition – and compiled our very own Rattler Cyder surfer skills guide… (more…)

Festival survival guide: 7 classic mistakes everyone makes

CREDIT Joe Wilde August 10th (447)

We’ve all been there. It’s your first festival and you’ve come fully prepared. Or, at least you think you have. However, there are some lessons you only learn from experience – like the importance of anti-bacterial hand gel and a pair of wellies that don’t have holes in them.

You’ll also learn that human beings really can develop quite a stench after living in a field for four days. But they can also create world-class music, excellent food and the kind of electric atmosphere you only find at a festival.

If you’re just starting out on the festival path of self-discovery, we’re here to help. These are just 7 mistakes that all first-times festival goers make. You live, you learn… (more…)

8 bands you can’t miss at Boardmasters 2013

Live music and cold cyder are one of those perfect combinations – like tea and cake or sunshine and good surf. We may not be music aficionados, but we know what sounds good with an icy pint, good friends and a few rays of sunshine.

British musical talent is at its best at this year’s Boardmasters. We’ve chosen a selection of unmissable acts from the line-up. They’re certainly worth peeling yourself out of that comfy fold-up chair and hot-footing it across ‘tent city’ to go and see – we promise. (more…)

New 4% Rattler cyder launching at Boardmasters festival

We’re proud to announce the launch of our new, lower alcohol Rattler cyder at this year’s Boardmasters music and surf festival.

Rattler 4% has been developed to complement our existing range of Rattler Original (6%), Pear (4%) and Berry (4%). With our exciting new sponsorship of the festival, we felt this was the perfect opportunity to bring forth our newest cyder for fans to enjoy.

After all, the vibe at Boardmasters is exactly what Rattler is all about: Cornwall, the beach, surfing, music, sunsets, and good times with friends. We have always loved the Boardmasters festival, so it seems like a natural partnership. Our sample test at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show was a great success – the feedback was incredibly positive.

However, we recognise that on some occasions people might want to enjoy a cyder with a lower percentage of alcohol. Rattler has become so popular over the last few years and we wanted to be able to bring that to the festival experience.

As the official cyder for Boardmasters, we will be serving Rattler 4% for the duration of the festival for you to try for yourself. We look forward to seeing you there!

Want a Cyder with bite?  That’s just what you’ll get at Boardmasters this year.  Here at Healey’s, we are thrilled that our ‘Rattler’ brand will be the official Cyder partner at Boardmasters festival.  With the main event being held just a few miles away from our farm in Cornwall, it seems an obvious partnership for our Rattler brand.   Named after the feisty Cornish Rattler apple and blended with Healeys know-how, our Rattler cyder has the crisp fresh flavour you crave.  A Cornish Cloudy Cyder created by the next generation of Cyder makers, we love nothing more than enjoying a pint on the beach, watching the sun go down.  Throw in some top notch surfing, live music and some camping in a field and things just keep getting better.  See you there, Sam and Joe
