Orchard walk Cornwall
Guided Cornish Orchard Walk
Take an exclusive guided walk venturing through Cornwall’s first commercial orchard at Penhallow between Newquay and Truro. Discover Healeys fascinating 30-year story and what it takes to grow and care for 20 acres of apple trees before its fruit is transformed into glorious Cornish cyder. The walk provides insight from the field during the beautiful Blossom or Harvest seasons for you to learn the next stages of the cyder-making process on one of our other tours at the farm.
Our Cornish Cydermaster will guide you across the road and down to our stunning Cornish orchards. On the journey, the talk touches on everything from how apple trees are grown, cared for and harvested, with the Healeys story intertwined and a tutored juice blending along the way.
Typically, you will spend 40 minutes on the leisurely walking tour with approximately five different stopping points covering:
- How the unique Healeys cyder story began
- How we plant our select cyder apple trees
- Growing and caring for our apples
- The different varieties we have at Healeys
- Tutored juice blending
The stunning scenic route follows a stoned path through the orchards therefore sensible clothing and footwear must be worn. Dogs are welcome on leads but we reserve the right to restrict this depending on orchard care. Walks run at specific times throughout the day and year and are weather dependent. For group bookings please contact us ahead of your visit to confirm times. Prices can be found here
After the walk, a cyder supper – a selection of Cornish meats and cheeses paired with three of our favourite cyders – in The Old Bottlery Restaurant or a Signature afternoon tea in The Mowhay Tea Rooms is highly recommended.
