Things to do at the farm throughout the year

Events at Healey’s Cyder Farm

If you are looking for things to do in Newquay and Truro at one of Cornwall’s top visitor attractions, take a look at our family friendly events.

From Sunday roasts and hearty Cornish breakfasts to Halloween happenings and Cornish apple bobbing.  There’s so many reasons to visit the farm at any time of the year.

Sunday Roasts

Date: Every Sunday from 1st October 2017

Details: Gather the family and head to Healeys for a hearty Sunday Roast-farm style. Kick back in Cornish Cyder land and tuck into slow cooked Cornish meat with all the sides (we cater for veggies too).

Feel at home in the new The Old Bottlery restaurant inspired by the typical farm kitchen, warmed by a log fire with a backdrop of Cornish cyders on tap.  Whilst our chefs serve up, you can chill out with a Rattler from only £2.50 a pint or get to know our friendly farm animals.

We’re designed for families: wellies welcome, bring the dog and enjoy everything the farm has to offer.

Prices from £11.95, with little plates also available.

Cornish Apple Bobbing Championships

Cornish Apple Bobbing Championships 2017

Date: Sunday 22nd October

Details: The first ever Cornish Apple Bobbing Championships will be hosted at the core of ‘apple land’ at Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm on Sunday 22nd October 2017 from 11am.

In celebration of one of the nation’s favourite fruits during harvesting season, locals and visitors are invited to take the plunge to bob as many apples as they can in one minute.  The winner will be crowned King or Queen of the orchards.

The day starts with the kids (5-16 years) competition at 11am for the chance to win a month’s supply of fruit juice and a meal for two in The Old Bottlery Restaurant.  This is followed by a bobbing battle between adults to win a month’s supply of Cornish Rattler and a meal for two in The Old Bottlery restaurant.

If you are looking for things to do in Newquay this autumn, this event is fun for all the family. Take part or simply spectate. There’s lots to see and do at the farm throughout the day whilst also enjoying proper farm food. From Cornish breakfast to a Sunday Roast lunch with slow cooked meats and all the trimmings in our new restaurant. Warm up with a mulled cyder on offer during the event and tuck into our famous homemade scones with a traditional or Rattler cream tea.

There’s free parking and free entry into the farm.  And as a dog friendly attraction in Cornwall, four-legged friends are welcome on a lead.

£2 registration for the Championships is payable on the day in the Visitor Centre which will go to Cornwall Community Foundation charity.

Date: 27-31 October 2017

Details: Come and hunt down the giant trick or treat sweets hidden around Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm as a free family event in Cornwall this Halloween weekend.

Use the map provided to find the letter on each sweet to make a scary word, which if guessed correctly, will win you a treat!

Crafters can also enjoy a spot of free apple carving in our Cornish cream team café. They can enter our competition for best carving with kids and adult categories. Apples will be judged at the end of the day and the winners will be contacted to receive a Healeys goodie bag of treats.

The farm will be full of spooky themed activities from 9am each day and from 10am on Sunday 29 October. Dare to take a tractor ride through the haunted orchards, or a candle lit tour down into our old cellars to discover the history of Cornish cyder making. Both run regularly throughout the day, with prices starting from £3.50. See tour prices for more details.

Enjoy cider and juice samples in our shop and delicious farm-style breakfast and lunches in our new restaurant on site.

There’s free parking and free entry into the farm, and as a dog friendly attraction in Cornwall, furry friends are welcome on a lead.
