A fantastic opportunity is available to join our busy Site Team, to become part of an iconic Cornish business, and to make your mark as a Junior Orchard/Vineyard Controller.

You will help to provide well presented & productive orchards, vineyards, grounds, farm animals and gardens.

Salary: £12.50-£14.50 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week

Duties & Responsibilities

Taking responsibility for orchards and their contents alongside the Orchard/Vineyard Controller – maintain, renew, pest disease, storm damage, correct nutrients, spray programme, liaison with orchard consultant and complying with report, maximising yield for cost input, maintaining orchard file with reports and logbook.
Assisting with the management of the vineyard. Working together with the Orchard/Vineyard Controller to ensure they are maintained to the highest standards year-round.
Supporting the Site team with overall care, maintenance and upkeep of all of Tregoninny’s 300 Acres including woodland management, felling, maintaining and re-planting.
Assisting the Site team with all garden/groundwork including grass cutting (tractor/lawnmower), strimming, weed control, hedges, flowerbeds and plants/shrubs, hanging baskets and tubs (seasonal).
Ensuring orchards and grounds of the main farm site and Tregoninny are tidy, clear, weed free and safe. Visibly appealing to all visitors, acting as the liaison for the department.
Polytunnel – clean, presentable, watered and kept to an acceptable standard and productive use.
Landscape maintenance.
Ensure that all checklists and relevant paperwork are filled in accurately and presented on time.
All tasks to be completed to an acceptable audit standard.
Assisting with the animals, ensuring all are regularly fed, counted and checked in a clean state. Ensuring animals are in good health and to be available at all times to assist in their welfare.
Maintaining gates, fences and animal tools/aids.
Rodent control. (All sites)
Assist with any other site duties as required.
Any other activity/tasks as and when requested by the Directors.

Work Experience

General agricultural and Horticultural experience

Qualifications

Tractor Driver and Licence
Spraying Certificate PA1, PA3 & PA6
Chainsaw Certificate
Horticultural Trailer Licence
Telehandler Ticket

Skills

Knowledge of Health and Safety and safe working practices
Good at planning and practical problem solving
Good communication skills
