With a multi-faceted production facility specialising in a range of products from ciders, wines, preserves and spirits, our business is thriving and has a very exciting future ahead.

A fantastic opportunity is available to join our busy Finance Team, to become part of an iconic Cornish business, and to make your mark as Financial Controller.

Hours: 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm

Salary: £50,000 per annum

Duties & Responsibilities -

Business and Accounting Focus

  • To provide a high quality financial resource for the overall business and identity cost saving opportunities.
  • Business partner with key stake holders.
  • Maintenance of Fixed Asset registers.
  • Ensuring balance sheet nominals are regularly reconciled.
  • Preparation of fully reconciled working papers files for external accountants to prepare statutory accounts.
  • Review of tax position of business and recommendations for tax savings and planning.
  • Provide external auditors with accurate reports and financial data.
  • Research technical accounting issues as required.

Controls and Ledgers

  • To provide a transactional accounting service to the business through the management and control of the Sales and Purchase ledgers.
  • Supporting the Head of Finance through the review and development of robust internal control policies and efficient procedures.
  • Management of sales and purchase ledgers, including weekly review of Ledgers with respective Clerks ensuring Ledgers are maintained to a strong position.
  • Ensure quality and correct coding of financial transactions through periodic review of operational performance.
  • Work with purchase Ledger and Procurement Manager to ensure that procurement needs of the business are supported.
  • Responsible for ensuring payments are accurately and timely set up, approved and paid as required in online banking portal.
  • Authorisation of payments.
  • Ensure business funding needs are met in most cost-effective way; provide proactive recommendations on return on cash investments.
  • Responsible for submission of W1, W5, W21 HMRC Duty returns in line with respective deadlines.

Other

  • Provide ad-hoc commercial information to managers.
  • Work with business managers to reduce costs and plan activities to increase sales to customers.
  • Be willing to undertake any other relevant duties as required by best business practice, provide cover for absent office colleagues.
  • Ensure structure of the finance team is fit for purpose, complete with succession planning where appropriate.
  • Leading and developing team members ensuring all catch-ups, RTWs, appraisals etc. are completed on time .
  • Provide cover when Head of Finance is out of the office .
  • To represent Healeys and to strive to promote its brand through all activities.
  • Keep confidential all knowledge of company business, finance and statistics
  • Any other activity/tasks as and when requested by the Directors.

Work Experience

  • Family business experience preferable
  • Financial reporting experience demonstrating strong analytical skills
  • Solid grasp of IT – in-depth knowledge of MS Excel, Opera, Microsoft, Xero.

Qualifications

  • Professional Qualification either ACCA, ICAEW or CIMA
