Technical Manager
As Technical Manager you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of quality and process, ensuring that everything thing we do aligns with our vision to create the finest food and drink.
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per year
Hours: Working hours will be 40 hours a week (average) as per contract and will need to be on a flexible basis, due to the needs of the company. Production operating hours are between 6am and 10pm Monday to Sunday, during which various shift patterns may occur.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for ensuring all finished product is of the required standards and expected quality.
- To be responsible for the company maintaining Third Party Industry Accreditation and future accreditation standards, such as the BRC accreditation.
- Building HACCP, TACCP & VACCP plans with the Production operations management team and ensuring these are updated and maintained as necessary.
- To be the company’s point of contact for all customer complaints, whether on site or trade. To follow up with the individual department and report back to the customer within the scope of the company’s complaints policy. To use your direct report for complaints when you are on annual leave and ensure that they comply with the company’s complaint policy.
- To take responsibility as the company’s appointed responsible person for the day-to-day management of legionnaires disease and manage the third-party contract whilst in place.
- Understand customer needs and requirements and continue to develop effective quality control processes.
- Devise and review specifications for products or processes.
- Devising and conducting investigations & root-cause analysis relating to production issues.
- Set requirements for raw material or intermediate products for suppliers and monitor their compliance.
- Ensure all policies and procedures are current, relevant and up-to-date for your areas of responsibility.
- Liaising with third party consultants and local authorities to ensure positive working relationships.
- Supervise Quality technicians and other staff and provide guidance and feedback.
- Oversee all product development procedures to identify deviations from quality standards.
- Be on the lookout for opportunities for improvement and developing new efficient procedures and processes.
- To be open to completing tasks which may fall outside of your role or remit with a positive, sleeves rolled up mentality.
- Any other activity/task as and when requested by the Directors.
Work Experience
- Cider/Wine making experience (Essential)
- FMCG – Food and Drink industry, bottling and kegging especially
- Seasonal demand / control experience in a process manufacturing environment
- Supervision and Management responsibility
- Ideally 3 years in a senior quality / compliance management role
- Quality auditing experience
- In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards
Skills
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent leadership skills
Qualifications
- HACCP Level 4
- FSA Level 3
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management Accreditation
- ISO 9001 Quality Auditor Qualification
- BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field
