A fantastic opportunity is available to join our busy Logistics Team, to become part of an iconic Cornish business, and to make your mark as Warehouse & Dispatch Manager.

Warehouse & Dispatch Manager at Healey’s oversees the entire lifecycle of goods, ensuring efficient storage, inventory accuracy, and timely dispatch. They will manage the team, optimise supply chain operations under their control, and enforce safety protocols within all areas. The role requires analytical thinking, effective leadership, proficiency in technology and the ability to operate at all levels within the department.

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per year

Hours: 40 Hours Per week, Monday-Friday (some weekends where necessary)

Working Environment:

The role often requires working within the team as well as in an office, managing and conducting both manual and administrative tasks. Operational hour changes within the business may require working weekends or into evenings. It is a fast-paced and challenging environment that requires working under pressure to meet deadlines.

Duties & Responsibilities

Health & Safety

  • Strong focus on Health and Safety, setting the example to the rest of the team. Conduct safety briefings, risk assessments, and inspections to minimise workplace hazards, accidents, and product/raw material contamination risks.
  • Continuous management, development and review of warehousing and dispatch risk assessments

Finished Goods & Material Flow Management and Storage Management

  • Oversee the end-to-end flow of raw materials, packaging (card/bottles/cans), and finished goods.
  • Coordinate with production to ensure materials are available to satisfy the daily plan
  • Manage warehousing layouts and storage processes to ensure maximum use of available space, including the efficient stacking of palletised products and safe storage of non-stackable items
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout all warehouse areas, including ambient storage, chilled storage, and freezer environments
  • Continuous management, development and review of warehousing and dispatch SOPs

Stock Control

  • Take ownership of inventory accuracy through regular stock counts, audits, and reconciliations
  • Manage returns, damaged goods, and obsolete stock in alignment with company policies
  • Ensure all processes comply with Excise Warehouse requirements, including management of duty-suspended stock
  • Ensure all warehouse practices comply with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and company quality requirements
  • Ensure timely ordering of CHEP pallets to meet production demands via myCHEP and internal systems
  • Conduct weekly physical pallet counts for all CHEP pallets on site and reconcile with system data to eliminate losses. Manage pallet exchanges, transfers, and de-hiring, ensuring accuracy to minimise write-offs via myCHEP
  • Analyse stock levels and turnover rates to highlight inventory level risks
  • Manage all perishable stock and raw materials to highlight inventory at risk of expiration
  • Reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Inventory accuracy, order fulfillment rates, on-time delivery performance and warehouse throughput and productivity metrics

Outbound/Inbound Logistics

  • Manage all daily outbound warehouse activities, including palletised stock, internal picking requests, van deliveries, and mail order shipments
  • Ensure all orders are picked, packed, and dispatched accurately and on schedule, maintaining high levels of customer service and operational efficiency
  • Plan and coordinate the unloading and storage of deliveries to their respective locations in a safe and organised manner ensuring procedures are followed and all required records completed.
  • Liaise with transport providers to plan and coordinate collections where required

Team Management, Training & Development

  • Lead a small team of operatives (Inc. van delivery driver) to ensure accurate, on-time dispatch and delivery.
  • Ensure all team members comply with company policies, food safety regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain a robust and up to date training program for the entire team.
  • Support workforce planning by monitoring attendance, scheduling shifts, and ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet operational demands.
  • Monitor and update clocking records via UAttend for the operators within the team.

Fleet & Equipment Compliance

  • Monitor compliance with vehicle inspection requirements to support safe and reliable delivery operations.
  • Ensure all company vehicles and warehouse equipment undergo their regular safety checks and maintenance, with records accurately maintained.

Work Experience

  • 3 years minimum experience in warehouse, logistics, or supply chain management, ideally in seasonal manufacturing or FMCG environments
  • 3 years minimum Counterbalance Forklift operation experience. Attachment experience desirable. In date certificate or recently expired preferable
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control methods, logistics processes, transportation regulations and H&S compliance
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and implementing operational improvements
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Manhattan, etc)
  • HACCP / Quality System experience
  • Cider / Wine / Beer making experience

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and inventory control
  • Leadership and team management
  • Strategic planning and analytical thinking
  • Strong understanding of HSE and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrating a “hands-on” and “can-do” approach
  • Ability to work fluidly as an Operative and/or Manager, as required

Qualifications

  • IoSCM/CIPS qualification or industry experience
  • IOSH/NEBOSH Qualification or demonstratable Health and Safety experience

Personal Qualities

  • Ability to communicate effectively to key contacts both internally and externally
  • Able to prioritise, manage deadlines and make decisions

This is not a hybrid role, you will be required to work on site.
