Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm is a family-run, admission-based visitor attraction and home to the thriving production house of the famous Rattler Cyder! Since the company was founded in 1980, Healeys has grown incredibly, with listings across big supermarket chains such as Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda and Morrisons, in addition to our regional and national wholesale partners. With a multi-faceted production facility specialising in a range of products from ciders, wines, preserves and spirits, our business is thriving and has a very exciting future ahead.

A fantastic opportunity is available to join our busy Production team, to become a permanent part of an iconic Cornish business, and to make your mark in this exciting role as Operations Manager.

Operations Manager will report to the Production Director and meet sales requirements. Plan requirements in raw materials & consumables to site, ensuring zero stock outs and within cost. Procedural compliance together with a non-compromise approach to quality is required.

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: £60,000 per year

Overview

  • Responsible for delivering KPIs including safety, quality, service levels and operational costs.
  • Lead the Production & Supply Chain teams
  • Gather and analyse operational data to resolve trouble spots and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Foster and develop a CI culture and ethos within the Operations leadership team.
  • Work closely with the Process & Quality departments to consistently deliver products that will exceed our customers’ expectations and will delight our consumers.
  • Responsible for managing and reviewing the control of inventories, from raw materials to finished products on our range of award-winning products and merchandise. You will be responsible for making sure orders are delivered in spec, on time, and at minimum cost, meeting the targets for your department.
  • To achieve your objectives, your staff management skills are critical as the achievement of your objectives is absolutely dependent upon the contribution and performance of your staff.
  • The key objective of the position is to gain a full understanding of the working of the production department and build strong working relationships with the operations team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take a leading role in maintaining Health & Safety compliance across all operations.
  • Production Planning – manage and oversee the team scheduling and ensuring adequate resource levels across the year.
  • Managing HCCF delivery team to achieve KPI’s
  • Lead and develop a continuous improvement culture within the operations team focussed on achieving World Class manufacturing.
  • Ensuring robust stock control and management – ensure appropriate stock of both raw material and finished stock are available as and when required.
  • Train, develop and review reporting staff to ensure that procedural, quality, safety and environmental requirements are met, and improve individual and team performance levels
  • Create a skills gap analysis and establish a training plan to fill the gaps
  • Introduce ‘continuous improvement’ activities to improve individual and team performance KPI’s, reduce costs, improve quality and improve profits.
  • Liaise closely with all members of the management team to ensure that both the internal and external customer requirements are satisfied
  • Ensure all operations are run according to current environmental and other legislation
  • Represent the Company at ad hoc functions and other industry events
  • To be available for any business emergencies
  • Any other activity/tasks as and when requested by the Directors.

  • Food & Drink industry essential.
  • Seasonal demand/control experience in a process manufacturing environment.
  • Management responsibility.
  • Cross functional team activity.
  • Staff Training and team motivation.
  • Management of performance standards.
  • Cider/Beer making experience.
  • HACCP/Quality System experience.
  • Organoleptic skills/experience.
