With a multi-faceted production facility specialising in a range of products from ciders, wines, preserves and spirits, our business is thriving and has a very exciting future ahead.

A fantastic opportunity has become available to join our Production Facility as Supply Chain and Procurement Manager. The role forms a key part of the Production Management Team as is responsible for determining the strategic direction of the supply chain and procurement function. Planning and implementing all activities relating to the timely and cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning, distribution and quality control of a wide range of goods. Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will review, source and price challenge of all our materials to ensure robust procedures are followed which allow for cost effective and ethical purchasing. In conjunction with the buying element of the role you will be responsible for ensuring orders are delivered on time, at minimum cost and meet the targets for your department.

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, flexible as per the needs of the business.

While you will have generalist responsibilities, a focus on best practice is key. What does success look like in the role?

Supply Chain:

  • Plan and implement the overall production and supply chain strategy.
  • Developing immediate and long-term Supply-Chain strategies including workforce, product and supplier planning.
  • Communicating production plans efficiently across the business
  • Managing all on-site warehousing, inventory, logistics and delivery operations
  • Creating and managing existing relationships with external suppliers
  • Managing team development, scheduling, performance and succession planning

Procurement:

  • Ensuring efficient planning, quality, safety, commercial viability and sustainability of all supplier contracts and products.
  • Work with other Production management to ensure all product plans are efficient, timely and planned accordingly as to ensure no stock-outs.
  • Ensure the cost-effective management of all purchasing, protecting the long-term performance and sustainability of the brand.
  • Lead and develop a continuous improvement culture within the operations team focussed on achieving World Class manufacturing. Introduce ‘continuous improvement’ activities to improve individual and team performance KPI’s, reduce costs, improve quality and improve profits

While cultural fit is very important to us, preference will be given to candidates who can showcase some of the following experience:

  • Experience from within the Food & Drink industry, bottling & kegging especially (desirable).
  • Experience of conducting contract negotiations; experience of procurement including buying and sourcing.
  • Prior experience of managing people.
  • Seasonal demand / control experience in a process manufacturing environment.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and cope with high levels of change.
  • Cider / Wine / Beer making experience (desirable).
  • HACCP / Quality System experience.
  • Health & Safety at work experience and knowledge.
  • Strong communicator and negotiator.
  • Demonstrating a “hands-on” and “can-do” approach and leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, able to prioritise, plan and is the calm in a storm.
  • Self-confident and decisive, able to lead and motivate staff
