Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm is a family-run, admission-based visitor attraction and home to the thriving production house of the famous Rattler Cyder! Since the company was founded in 1980, Healeys has grown incredibly, with listings across big supermarket chains such as Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda and Morrisons, in addition to our regional and national wholesale partners. With a multi-faceted production facility specialising in a range of products from ciders, wines, preserves and spirits, our business is thriving and has a very exciting future ahead.

A fantastic opportunity is available to join our busy Production team, to become a permanent part of an iconic Cornish business, and to make your mark in this exciting role as Cyder Technician.

This role provides the opportunity to work in a multi-skilled team covering a range of activities across our operation, taking an active role in identifying and delivering initiatives in health & safety, quality, operating processes and hygiene. Cyder Techs are an important part of our team, ensuring our quality products are produced and packaged safely and correctly, in full and on time. Ready to be distributed to our customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for putting safety first and always behave in a manner to ensure your own safety and that of others.
  • Take an active role to identify and deliver Health, Safety, Environment and Food Safety improvements (e.g. involvement in audits and document reviews).
  • Completion of relevant quality traceability documents & delivery of Technical & Quality requirements including GMP & Hygiene standards
  • Adhere to site processes and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation to deliver quality products.
  • Own your personal training and development, ensuing you are compliant and safe to work at all times while striving for further upskilling as the opportunity arises.
  • Along with the wider production team you will work to ensure the production targets such as operational efficiency, plan attainment, labour efficiency & yield are met.
  • Hands-on in the production process - from raw materials to finished products, including ciders, wines, fruit juices, spirits, and preserves. Ownership of the area is vital – running, changeover & fault finding of assets, ensuring compliance to H&S, Process and food technical standards.
  • You will be trained in and be signed off on all aspects of the department including Process (Pressing, fermentation, filtering and blending) and Packing (Bottling and Kegging) to enable rotation across assets and processes where required.
  • Ability to work independently of supervision / ability to use personal judgement & initiative where required / authorised.
  • In the event of breakdown or issues with the packaging/process machinery, fault find / liaise with the Shift Manager to resolve the issue / escalate to Engineering team / record relevant time loss data.
  • To be open to completing tasks which may fall outside of your role or remit with a positive, sleeves rolled up mentality as and when requested by the Directors.

Work Experience

  • Previous experience of filling / packing machinery – rotary fillers, labellers, shrink wrappers – running / changeover / fault finding
  • Experience working in a packaging environment, specifically FMCG and Food & Drink
  • Exposure & knowledge of working within HACCP controlled environment (SALSA / BRC / Mults Codes of Practise)
  • Awareness of the cider making process
  • Continuous improvement exposure – Lean / Six Sigma

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good level of numeracy
  • Confident in learning bespoke IT systems

Qualifications

  • Food Safety training
  • H&S awareness training

Personal Qualities

  • Ability to work well in a team and use own initiative
  • Responsible, reliable and punctual

This is not a hybrid role, you will be required to work on site.
