A fantastic opportunity is available to join our busy Production Team, to become part of an iconic Cornish business, and to make your mark as Packaging Shift Leader. As a key member of our state-of-the-art production facility, you will be working to help create our popular and ever-growing range of award-winning products.

You will play a key role in leading the current packaging shift. You will be responsible for ensuring that the production targets are met and liaising with the wider production team regarding potential issues and breakdowns as they occur. You will give your team the tools and guidance to be successful in their roles and you will lead by example in everything that you do.

The key deliveries for this role are:

  • Put Health and Safety at the center of all decisions that you make. Be a role model for your team, demonstrating best practice at all times.
  • Overseeing the current packaging shift, working to ensure targets are met.
  • Lead from the front, working on the line as needed while managing the team on shift.
  • Ensure compliance with Packaging process and procedures at all times to meet requirements of external accreditation.
  • Being a key point of contact between the packaging teams and the production management team.
  • Overseeing bottling and kegging line start up’s, close down’s & other tasks as directed by the Packaging Manager
  • Work closely with the Quality team to ensure the product produced is of the best possible quality and adheres to all legal and Company specifications and to ensure compliance with procedures is met at all times.
  • Being first point of contact for minor faults and breakdowns, escalating to the Engineer on shift as needed.
  • Have a mindset of continuous improvement, looking for efficiencies and cost saving measures where possible and work with the wider production management team to implement these measures.
  • Own the training and development of your team, ensuing they are compliant and safe to work at all times while identifying opportunities for further training/upskilling as it arises.
  • Cross train your team on all aspects of packaging (bottling line, filler, kegging etc.) to enable the team to be more resilient and flexible to change.
  • To be open to completing tasks which may fall outside of your role or remit with a positive, sleeves rolled up mentality.

Experience

  • Packaging of FMCG (Food and Drink packaging especially)
  • Seasonal demand/control experience in a process manufacturing environment
  • Management of a diverse team
  • Cider/Wine making experience
  • HACCP/Quality System experience

Ideal Qualifications

  • Management qualification (not essential)
  • Health & Safety Qualification or relevant experience

Skills Requirements

  • Quality/Risk Management
  • Able to motivate staff/good quality communication skills
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Broad technical knowledge of packaging process

Hours: You will work on a 4-on, 4-off continuous pattern of 12 hour shifts with hours typically from 6am to 6pm. 40.25 average weekly working hours.

Salary: £29,000 - £33,500 per year DOE.
