Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm is a family-run, admission-based visitor attraction and home to the thriving production house of the famous Rattler Cyder! An exciting opportunity is available to join our busy Site team, to become a permanent part of an iconic Cornish Business, and to make your mark in this exciting role as Top Fruit Manager.
You will be responsible for overseeing the vineyards and orchards, ensuring that they are well presented and maintained to a high standard year-round.
Salary: £50,000 per year
Hours: 40 hours Flexibility will be required in order to meet the demands of the company.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Reporting to and working closely with the COO to ensure smooth daily running of the vineyard and orchard.
- Overall responsibility for running the Company’s vineyard venture, including all management of the vines and training of the team, working to budget, planning staff and jobs.
- Conduct regular inspections of the vineyard and orchard to assess growth and identify issues.
- Develop and implement seasonal plans to maximize yield and maintain quality.
- Have a focus on Health and Safety, setting the example to the rest of the team and adhere to accepted procedures to reduce unwanted events and accidents.
- Working with the Site team to ensure upkeep and maintenance of the vineyard and orchard.
- Delegation of duties to Site team in accordance with work tasks agreed with COO.
- Ensure that all checklists and relevant paperwork are filled in accurately and presented on time.
- Responsible for maintaining site staff training, ensuring all staff are trained to procedure in the use of equipment and before undertaking tasks.
- Managing budgets.
- Negotiating with contractors and suppliers.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and deal with the consequences.
- Plan for future developments in line with business strategy.
- All tasks to be completed to an acceptable audit standard.
- Any other activity/tasks as and when requested by the Directors.

- Orchard/Vineyard Management experience
- Management experience
- General Agricultural & Horticultural experience
Qualification
- Tractor Driver and licence
- Spraying Certificate PA1, PA3 & PA6
- Chainsaw Certificate
- Horticultural Trailer Licence
- Telehandler Ticket
Skills
- Report writing and presentation skills
- Broad technical knowledge and understanding of scheduling/control problems
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and safe working practices
- Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
- Good communication skills

- Good at both planning and practical problem solving
