Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm is a family-run, admission-based visitor attraction and home to the thriving production house of the famous Rattler Cyder! Since the company was founded in 1980, Healeys has grown incredibly, with listings across big supermarket chains such as Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda and Morrisons, in addition to our regional and national wholesale partners. With a multi-faceted production facility specialising in a range of products from ciders, wines, preserves and spirits, our business is thriving and has a very exciting future ahead.

An exciting opportunity is available to join our busy Site team, to become a permanent part of an iconic Cornish Business, and to make your mark in this exciting role as Head of Estates.

You will be responsible for ensuring all sites owned by Healey company are run in the best working order to maximise revenues and brand experience.

Hours: 40 hours per week, flexibility due to the nature of the role for breakdowns or essential maintenance.

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per year

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing refurbishment, renovations, ongoing improvement projects.
  • Ensure proactive building maintenance and management plans are in place to maintain all buildings in superb condition.
  • The running and proactive maintenance of two holiday lets.
  • All Company Vehicles must be maintained, fit for purpose and presentable at all times – including the collection of classic Healey cars and boats.
  • Ensure the Site team is fully staffed, engaged and has appropriate skills/qualifications/training to respond to all jobs that fall under the Estates remit (Care of animals, Telehandler work, chainsaw and spraying work, work at height etc).
  • Ensure all Site Team equipment is in a serviceable condition and ready for use at all times, also ensure that the Site workspaces (Site office, Site workshop etc) are safe, clean and tidy.
  • Electrical system management and compliance across the Estate – liaising with contractors if required.
  • Ensure the grounds are managed and presented in an appropriate way ensuring exceptional brand experience.
  • Take accountability for reviewing, updating and embedding policies, standard operating procedures and risk assessments, with a view towards eradicating preventable incidents.
  • Making sure all facilities and vehicles meets relevant health and safety standards, including routine servicing of all relevant items (boilers, kitchen equipment, fire extinguishers, PAT testing, MOTs & Services for vehicles etc).
  • Ensure all operations are completed with regards to health and safety requirements.
  • Managing cleaning, waste disposal, catering, parking and security.
  • Managing budgets.
  • Negotiating with contractors and suppliers.
  • Plan for future developments in line with business strategy.
  • Check that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed satisfactorily and follow up on any deficiencies.
  • Use performance management techniques to monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed service levels and to lead on improvement.
  • Ensure the farm animal welfare is of excellent standard, and the animal strategy is managed ensuring we have the right animals (and babies) at the right time of year.
  • Ensure the farm animals and enclosures are maintained, rotated and developed to give an exceptional brand experience.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and deal with the consequences.
  • Taking responsibility for the effective running of all orchards and the vineyard, inc. maintaining appropriate pest control, reacting to storm damage, ensuring correct nutrients are applied, maximizing yields where possible and ensuring the land remains appealing for customers.
  • Any other activity/task as and when requested by the Directors.

  • Broad technical knowledge and understanding of scheduling/control problems
  • Be good with figures and information technology
  • In-depth knowledge of the cider production industry

Qualification

  • Professional trade qualification in relevant field
  • Educated to degree level in appropriate discipline
  • Health & Safety

  • Be comfortable working under pressure
