Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm is a family-run, admission-based visitor attraction and home to the famous Rattler Cyder! Since the company was founded in 1980, Healeys has grown incredibly, with listings across big Supermarket chains such as Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda and Morrisons, in addition to our regional and national wholesale partners. With a multi-faceted production facility specialising in a range of products from ciders, wines, preserves and spirits, our business is thriving and has a very exciting future ahead.

A fantastic opportunity is available to join our busy Production team, to become part of an iconic Cornish business, and to make your mark in this important role as our Head of Quality & Compliance. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of quality and process, ensuring that everything thing we do aligns with our vision to create the finest food and drink! You will be working to build and maintain a culture of quality, safety and compliance to deliver the Healeys vision, whilst being the voice and ambassador of Quality across the site.

This will include an array of disciplines such as:

  • To be responsible for the company's Quality Management System (QMS)
  • To drive onsite standards in line with the QMS and ensure we maintain our Third Party Industry Accreditation
  • Building HACCP plans with the Production operations management team and ensuring these are updated and maintained as necessary.
  • Take the lead in the company’s risk assessments, ensuring that the company is covered at all times with current and comprehensive risk assessments for all company sites, equipment, operations and events.
  • To be the company’s point of contact for all customer complaints, whether on site or trade. To follow up with the individual department and report back to the customer within the scope of the company’s complaints policy. To use your direct report for complaints when you are on annual leave and ensure that they comply with the company’s complaint policy.
  • To ensure all production staff are trained and up-to-date on procedures, risk assessments and compliance within the individual role.
  • To take responsibility as the company’s appointed responsible person for the day-to-day management of legionnaires disease and manage the third-party contract whilst in place.
  • Understand customer needs and requirements and continue to develop effective quality control processes
  • Devise and review specifications for products or processes.
  • Devising and conducting investigations & root-cause analysis
  • Set requirements for raw material or intermediate products for suppliers and monitor their compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines as well as legal obligations.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are current, relevant and up-to-date for your areas of responsibility
  • Liaising with third party consultants and local authorities to ensure positive working relationships.
  • Supervise Quality technicians and other staff and provide guidance and feedback.
  • Oversee all product development procedures to identify deviations from quality standards.
  • Be on the lookout for opportunities for improvement and developing new efficient procedures and processes.

While personality and fit are important to us at Healeys, preference will be given to applicants who can showcase the following skills / experience:

  • Ideally 3 years in a senior quality / compliance management role.
  • Experience in a FOod & Beverage environment desirable.
  • HACCP Level 4 Qualification
  • FSA level 3
  • NEBOSH level 6 Qualification
  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management Accreditation
  • ISO 9001 Quality Auditor Qualification
  • Relevant Health & Safety & COSHH Qualifications
  • Quality auditing experience.
  • Organoleptic skills/experience
  • BSc/ BA in business administration or relevant field
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards
  • Excellent mathematics abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods

Salary: £45,000 to £48,000 per annum, negotiable dependent on experience.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, flexible as per the needs of the business.
