Head of Operations

Right now, we are recruiting for a talented and self-driven, individual to come and start their Healeys story. Working closely with the Board and Senior Leadership Team in the development of production and operations strategy. We are looking for an energetic, dynamic individual that can take responsibility, be adaptable and fundamentally be driven by delivering strong performance.
You will need to have a strong background in an FMCG environment, have a flair for quality, safety, and environmental factors as well as a solid background in robust succession planning models.
If successful, in this role you will deliver our range of award-winning products on time, in full and to the required standards for our customers.
Reporting directly to Special Projects, whilst working proactively with the Senior Team, the you will develop and lead a team of highly skilled Managers to create and deliver the Company’s strategic and operational plans.
Salary: £80,000.00-£100,000.00 per year
Duties & Responsibilities
The primary function of this high profile role is to execute:
- Operational delivery of production to the required high standards
- HR Strategy, succession plan and training matrix
- Compliance covering Quality Assurance, legal and Health and Safety
Key Accountabilities
Strategic
- Responsible for supporting the business in delivering profitable growth and operation of the Company
- Developing strategic operating plans that reflect the longer-term objectives and priorities established by the Board
- Maintaining an on-going, transparent dialogue with the Family & Board to ensure they are kept up to date with day-to-day activities
- Maintaining an on-going, transparent dialogue with the Chair of the Board to ensure the Chair is kept abreast of exceptions that will impact the business
- Lead on the execution and further development of the shared vision and mission for the organisation
- Champion the Company’s vision of sustainability through standardisation
- Ensuring appropriate operational planning and quality assurance control systems are in place and complied with
- Ensuring appropriate financial planning with control systems are in place and complied with
- Assuming full accountability to the Family & Board for all Company operations
- Make provision for the development and management of the organisation’s technological infrastructure and information systems
Operational
- Ensuring that the operating objectives and standards of performance are not only understood but owned by management and all other employees
- Successfully implementing company policies and standard operating procedures
- Maintaining a management system which ensures policies, procedures and risk assessments are reviewed and updated accordingly – this includes a suitable sign off and review process
- Building and maintaining an effective Management team
- Closely monitoring the operating and financial results against plans and budgets taking remedial action where necessary and informing the Family & Board of significant changes
- Maintaining and improving the operational performance, efficiency and cost control of the company
- Lead on the development and definition of policies
- Ensure compliance to Health and Safety Legislation internally and externally
- Embed a mind-set of continuous improvement in all activities within your control
- Ensure stock control at all touch points
People
- Provide direction and leadership to ensure the achievement of objectives, targets and strategic plans
- Lead the Management team to ensure that Healeys meets its obligations to clients and stakeholders
- Develop and sustain effective working relationships with all stakeholders
- Drive employee engagement across all areas of operations, promoting a culture of transparency and inclusivity
- Lead, manage and motivate employees to deliver high performance results
- Devise a successional plan which highlights backfill for critical roles
- Ensure that decisions taken by the Board, MD and SMT are disseminated and understood by relevant personnel
- Ensure that the organisation is compliant with all regulatory and industry requirements; Health & Safety, Quality management and Data Protection requirements
- Ensure that the appropriate structures, systems and processes are in place to keep the organisation abreast of industry policy, legislative changes/impact
- Develop the organisation to be an ethical business in all respects of its activities
- Ensure compliance with HMRC
Personal Qualities are important, and we look for candidate that have a solid background in the following:
- Experience working in a family owned and run business
- Minimum 5 years working at Senior Management level
- Experience of implementing a management system, driving operational excellence and standardization – removing the risk of unwanted events
- Manufacturing/Operational experience a benefit
- Experienced in working within a target driven environment and managing a senior team
- Financial management/interpretive ability
- Ability to apply analytical rigour in all operational and strategic financial matters
- Experienced in developing and maintaining a business development network
- The capacity and capability to encourage innovation and creativity within the organisation
- Excellent presentation skills Excellent communication skills, written and oral
- A leader who demonstrates high levels of decision making and influence
- Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their ethnic, cultural, social backgrounds, their gender, age, religious belief, disability and sexual orientation
