Leading a team of Farmhand & Estates Assistants you will work closely with the Estates Manager to deliver the company’s Estate strategy. Your team will strive to provide well presented, safe grounds and facilities at the Farm. 

On a day-to-day basis, your success will look like:

  • You will lead a team of Farmhands and Estates Assistants, organising all estate and orchard work in accordance with overarching plan as set by the Estates Manager.
  • Management of all garden/ground work such as grass cutting, weed control, flowerbeds etc. ensuing the site looks its best at all times.
  • Along with the Estates Manager, plan a schedule of works for new projects and the proactive maintenance of all site buildings, sheds, gates and fences on site to ensure that we have the right staffing requirements at the right times.
  • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests as required, prioritising other works as directed by the Estates Manager.
  • Own the training and development of your team, ensuing they are compliant and safe to work at all times while identifying opportunities for further training/upskilling as it arises.
  • Ensure that the animals on site are looked after appropriately, looking after their health and appearance, liaising with external contacts as needed.
  • Have a focus on Health and Safety, setting the example to the rest of the team and adhering to accepted procedures to reduce unwanted events and accidents.
  • To be open to completing tasks which may fall outside of your role or remit with a positive, sleeves rolled up mentality

While personality and fit are important to us, preference will be given to applicants who can showcase the following qualifications and skills:

Tractor Licence

Spraying certifications PA1, PA3 and PA6

Industry recognized Chainsaw certificate

Telehandler qualification

Ability to motivate and lead a diverse team

Recognised Health and Safety qualification or experience

General agricultural and horticultural experience

Site management/maintenance experience

Knowledge of H&S and safe working practices

Demonstrable experience in Estate/Site management

Familiarity with animal care and husbandry

Hours: Contracted 40 hours per week. You will work flexibly, 5 days, Monday to Sunday.

Salary: £30,000.00 - £32,000.00 per Annum
