Friendly Farm Animals

Meet Shires, Shetlands, chickens, rabbits, pygmy goats, Cornish Black pigs and many more...

Our Animal Family

Our Animal Family

Down to the courtyard and beyond, see what furry friends can be met along the way.

Our friendly animals are part of our family and whilst some spend many hours in other fields, they are brought down to the farm most days to be fussed over.

Enjoy lazy afternoons in the courtyard with a cream tea (and a refreshing pint of course!), peacock-spotting and letting the little ones watch our cute pygmy goats on their trampoline.

Shire horses, Shetland ponies, chickens, rabbits, ferrets, pygmy goats, Cornish Black pigs, donkeys, peacocks and many more – discover some of the friends you can meet below...

Shire Horses

Shire Horses

Duchess and Dancer are sisters, born and bred in Cornwall. In 2019, Duchess welcomed a foal, Shadow.

Like Duchess, Dancer has been trained to 'work',  pulling carts and helping to farm fields. They are also both ridden horses.

They spend most days with visitors on the farm and their evenings in the field eating and socialising with other horses, along with visits from the family.

Pygmy Goats

Pygmy Goats

Watch this family of goats get up to mischief and you may also catch them on their morning workout on the trampoline.

Granny goat, Daffodil, keeps Peony, Chutney, Demelza, Pickles and Patch in check. Ranging from 15 years and under, all have been born and bred at the cyder farm.

Cornish Black Pigs

Cornish Black Pigs

Bonnie and Betty are Cornish Black pigs, a rare and traditional pig. They are docile, placid and friendly -  perhaps because their floppy ears cover their eyes so they can't see much!

They love wallowing in wet mud and when it's warm, rooting up the earth looking for food.  They are also lucky enough during pressing season to snack on the apple pulp from customers pressing their own apples.

Donkeys

Donkeys

Daisy and Buttercup are half sisters.  Daisy has a black nose and Buttercup has a grey nose. They enjoy their stable but also spend some time in the field to give them the opportunity to kick their heels up!
